BYU November competition 2011

There are a bunch of justifications I keep making to myself to make myself feel better about last week, I have cried I have yelled. I have slept, and drank. I am still angry and sad. I am happy for the winners because they are my friends but I am sad for me because even second place is losing. It is startling that so much passion can be snuffed out by having a win slip through my fingers. I am not a loser like I am not a morning person, I tolerate it but everyone suffers. The most frustrating is that I had so much more I could give, but i couldnt translate it. So I take second place and lose. I don't want to dance or put my shoes on, I don't even want to look in the mirror or work out. I hear music and it is like tasting sand, so aggravating I just want to get rid of it. Teaching which is my joy is just another job. This happens smetimes and I have to fight through everything to keep working so I can get things done. Hard thing is is that it will never be done, this sport, my life, this is madness.

Off season

So after our tour Trey and I got home mid July knowing we would have the rest of July and all of august to take advantage of no competitions and a lot of free time so this is what I have been up to besides teaching lessons and relaxing. Since the air in Utah is so thin we have a lot of advantage to build stamina and endurance. We go one day in the studio where we do three rounds Semely style which is Rumba rumba rumba, cha cha cha cha cha cha, samba samba samba, paso paso paso, and jive jive jive.... Usually with a few minutes to breath before we begin the next round of a different dance. Then we will spend 40 minutes working on our details and addressing anything that felt off in our rounds. Then we stretch and call it a day. The following day we will focus on other aspects that help our dancing. I go to the track and run and Trey bikes, I do yoga and Trey lifts. Besides that I make sure I always have a full bottle of water on me through out the day and that I am eating lots of vegetable and fruit. Embassy will be our first comp back and in the meantime we have lessons with Shirley Ballis and Sammy Stopford to help us look good :)

Ok so it has been a while but I have been so busy. We competed in Tampa and I got sick the day of, my athletic trainer thinks it might have been an allergic reaction, I was dizzy and sneezy and runny nose, I had chills and a headache and I felt like my heart was beating so fast. So you can imagine whAt it might have felt like to try and dance in that condition. I walked off the floor And it felt like it took ten minutes, I just kept thinking I am almost there I am almost there but the carpet seemed so far away! So it didn't go well and I was devastated because the judging panel was so prestigious I really wanted to do my best. It was a semi final and most the Canadian as well as us final was there so we didn't have a strong chance of making the final although we did get a few cal backs. Besides that the comp itself was phenomenal! The decorations and music and theme was all burlesque so it was so sexy and drag and just all out, we tried to take pics but they didntnturn out very well because it was all mood lighting. So fun! So I was bummed but we movedmon and flew into new York. We had to leave Tampa at five am and after the comp we got in at two and since I was tenpin out I codlin sleep even though I felt like he'll, so I stayed up ALL night. No joke. I kinda slept on the plane but you know how that goes. We got into new York city and went to my cousins place for a while and settled in, then tee and I went and walks around central park which is right around the corner from us, I was still feeling sick and it felt like really bad allergies or a coldmor something so I got my trainer on the phone, Sara Beaudry, and she aid I needed to flush out my body, so My amazing husband bought a liter of water, a bag of big green grapes, a few oranges and a few apples and After he walked me around the park, I was ordered tl finish the bag of grapes which I did surprisingly quick with no trouble at all and I downednthe wholenthing of water, he put me in bed at five pm and I woke up the following day at 2:30 in the afternoon feeling perfect again. It was so crazy! But i have such a good team, besides T who is always taking are of me, Sara is the bomb because show always knows how to fix me up, she told me to stick to pure foods and drink, nothing salty or processed including liquids, and I have pretty much done that since and I feel so energetic and I needed to get better because we worked at the manhattan dancesport running marks for the judges for three days up to our event in Saturday nugget. Gary and Diana asked if we were available which we were and I am so happy we were able to because we were at the comp all the time hanging out with all our friends and watching pro latin, max and Anastasia were there competing together for the first time and they were absolutely fabulous! Riccardo and Yulia won and rising attar champs got third so it was amazing. And the judges were all really great to get to know and it was such a hugely prestigious panel that we felt very fortunate. We got to practice at the comp which was perfect because everywhere else would have charged us for studio time so it really was a blessing. Saturday nigh we competed and it started from a first round, everyone on the east coast Canada and even two couples from Italy showed up so the competition was really tight. We felt ready more then any other comp because we had been there so much it felt like home court, warm up felt good, I wasn't sick, we had all our friends there and we were so happy, I feel like the couples here and canada are friendlier to us then the. Couples on west coast, I will miss them all when we go home... But I guess embassy we will see them in September. The dancing was solid the first two round a and we got calls back for semi finals from Vibieka Toft, Glenis Dee, Toni Merideth and two others and wound up being fifteenth call back into the 12
couple semi, so we are so close, Tal and Vlada got 73 marks over all and we got 70, so I am very hopeful and I am so pleased tom feel our improvement, our hours a day everyday in Boston really paid off. So today we woke up late, had lazy Sunday morning you know what, I made breakfast and we walked all over new York. I saw the Chrysler building, empire state building, we ate lunch at time square, Trey took me in all the shops, Sara and my Dad called me while T and I were in Louis V in blooming dales and i don't even remember our conversation I was too busy drooling over all the cute shoes, not to mention the bags! I do feel kinda bad, love you poppa! Didn't mean to blow you off, but it was real life Louis V, I was in a state of awe, I am such a noob..... Anyway..... I real like New York, and riding subways, I have lots of pics I will post. So now we will watch fireworks and eat a hot dog tomorrow to celebrate the fourth and then Tuesday Trey is taking me to see Phantom of the Opera on broadway :) can not wait, it is one of his favorites so we will have a great time. I think Tuesday night after that we will pack and head to the airport and sleep there, because we fly out Wednesday morning but we fly out of jfk which is hard to get to especially curing morning rush hour.... So i am not looking forward to that but after that flight from jfk no more flights! At least till September :) can't wait to get to California and see family and get fresh air, I love NYC but te groceries are so expensive (as are the nail salons) and everything stinks.... We compete desert classic next Saturday then we can go home to Utah! I can't wait :) I miss my mountains xx

Journal entry

Jersey has been our most comfortable spot so far, too bad it only lasted a few days :( but we have had fun. The house we are staying in is Diane olivieras and it is so big and beAutiful, our room has this gorgeous bathroom with a giant jet tub and a shower big enough for a family of four. Two separate sinks... It has been so great, the best is king size and it feels like a cloud, I wish it was mine door keeps! The tv is big and tons of AMERICAN channels, and besides that we have a car while we raw here, not your normal rental chevy four door but a cute car! Diana and Gary give great lessons and I like their studio a lot. It is big and beautiful, everything here is so green too and humid but fortunately it hasn't been extremely hot. Practice feels good but my body is tired, I wish I were home at this point if nothing else just to be able to sit for a while. Jurassic park is on tv I love this movie! Trey and I ate dinner while we watt he'd it. To or row we leave the house at 6:30 am so we can get to the airport and drop off the rental car and all that good stuff. Then it is off to Tampa where we co Pete again and stay in a hotel room. We are there till sunday. I hope that comp goes well, so far we have been really successful on the east coast. After placing seventh on amatuer at Yankee and first in rising star the following day we have accomplished a lot of goals. Sasha and oksana went pro at that comp too so that was really fun too. We see Shirley in Tampa and Alan will be there too, good thing because my hair is long, and it is arch a pain when it is grown out. Trey colored it a few weeks ago and it looks great but he can't do the cut :) I haven't been sleeping very good while I have been here encase I get really tired around 7 but I'm not ho e by then so by the time I am I am awake again.... Grr I hate that! So far everywhere we go we see max and his new partner Anastasia and that's really cool because they were taking in Utah with Shirley so we met them at home and seeing them along the road is fun and we chat :) I remember watching YouTube videos of him dancing with yulia back in the day and eventually beata too, he's really nice and his new partner is good I like watching her dance. We have narrowed all the luggage down to one big suitcase and our two carry ons! This makes me so happy. I am so sick of luggage. After Yankee I was able to talk to a lot of the judges and make some friends that I won't forget, I have had a lot of fun being with all these people. Just a few more weeks till Utah again, and I am excited but a lil sad, being on the road and especially the east. Past has been a ball.
